261

“261” unites knitting and running – two rhythms that drive forward. Running becomes a liberation of the mind, while knitting reflects its discipline, persistence, and focus on the goal. Inspired by Kathrine Switzer, the first woman to finish the Boston Marathon in 1967 despite prohibitions, the collection carries the spirit of her bib number 261 – a lasting symbol of courage and determination. Scientific and historical evidence adds depth: women were not only gatherers but also hunters, resilient and enduring, as shown by the Ainu women of Japan who until recently hunted with dogs.
The knits embody rhythm itself, echoing the pulse of running. Loop by loop, like step by step, they remind us that consistency and endurance lead to achievement. “Streeetch 261” is about a woman who moves forward, strives, and reaches her goals.
